Invitation

Statement(from press release)
In the early days of electronics and computers data was fairly static. It stayed put.
In today’s connected world, data is anything but static. It moves easily and freely from place to place, machine to machine and person to person, often without our knowledge or consent.
While movement of data can be an entirely automated thing, a great deal of data motion results from ordinary human actions and interactions. We make phone calls, we send emails, we thumb encoded SMS messages, we visit websites – and as we do these things we trail out endless ripples of data in our wake, regardless of whether anyone is collecting, reading or using it.
Console network comprises several identical electronic devices (or consoles) connected by cables. Visitors are encouraged to interact with and explore the art work.
Two areas of exploration are available for the visitor: exploring and operating the consoles, learning how to send single bits of data to other devices; and reconfiguring the interconnecting cables, experimenting with the topography of the network and the subsequent flow of data between the devices. Both areas of activity have a direct affect on the flow of data through the ‘network’.
