swedish/nordic artist Kalle Runeson returns to melbourne to present

Fictonalizing philosophers Comfort Zone

a site/pacific installation at Ocular Lab.

Fictionalizing Philosophers Comfort Zone continues Runeson's series of installations that examine socially related issues.

Kalle Runeson uses and continues to explore areas where fiction, myth and reality blur. In his works topics are visualized to expose ambivalence and contradictions. Ultimately he is interested in hidden political agendas.

In Fictionalizing Philosophers Comfort Zone the focus is on today's space program. Through its fictional reality, it presents itself as a harmless form of imperialism. It also works as an excuse and a promise of continual consumer culture of the western world.

The term Fictionalizing Philosopher is borrowed from author Phillip K. Dicks, who was an artist also interested in the alternatives of one reality.

This project is supported by the Office for Contemporary Art Norway.
