Tom Nicholson’s Flag time: Marat at his last breath presents material generated by his recent public project Flags for a Trades Hall Council.  The work is a meditation on the nature of drawing and flags, and the parallels between the two as systems for the endless reformulation of an image.  It is set against Australia’s major day of nationalist celebration at a time when the Australian flag is an increasingly prominent feature of public life.

The exhibition is combined with a BBQ at which visitors are invited to imbibe the national coat of arms reconstituted into the form of sausages.
